The Ideal Gas Law

Why? The Ideal Gas Law interrelates the amount of a gas and its pressure, volume, and temperature. It is used to predict or calculate the changes in any of these quantities due to changes in the others. Scientists, engineers, and anesthesiologists apply the Ideal Gas Law each time they work with gases.
Learning Objectives • Understand the Ideal Gas Law.
• Master calculations involving the Ideal Gas Law.
• Learn how gas density can be used to determine a molecular formula.
Success Criteria • Ability to calculate each of the quantities - pressure, volume, amount, and temperature of a gas - from the others
• Accurately calculate molar mass from gas density data.
