(i) PRE AND POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS
Two positions - one predoctoral, the other postdoctoral - funded by the European Union (EU) are available on a project involving the study of the structure - function relationships in photosynthetic metalloproteins and the development of an interdisciplin
ary methodology. This includes most advanced techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics. Applicants can expect to work in Seville as part of a dynamic European network in the scientific growing areas of bioinorganic chemistry and macro
molecular recognition. Duration of the appointments is 2-3 years.
Interested parties are invited to send their applications as soon as possible including a short curriculum vitae, a list of publications and the names of two referees to:

in the Department of Chemistry, working on a project entitled
Structure/function relations in "so-called" prismane proteins. The project
is funded by bbsrc and is tenable for one year in the first instance with
possible extension for a further two years. The nominal start date is 1st
October 1997 and the initial salary is £15,159 to £17,606 on the RA1A scale
according to qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will
be working as part of an international, interdisciplinary team which is
studying the unique mixed iron-sulfur/iron-oxo cluster. The work will be
undertaken between laboratories in the Department of Chemistry, EPSRC
Daresbury Laboratory and ESRF Grenoble. Expertise in protein
crystallography is essential and practical knowledge of protein
spectroscopy or purification is desirable.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr D. Collison (email:
david.collison@man.ac.uk) or Prof P.F. Lindley (lindley@esrf.fr).
