Tonge Laboratory Seeks Post-Doctoral Associate:
I have a post-doctoral position in my research group. The position is initially for a year but could be extended to two years. Research in my lab involves the application of vibrational and NMR spectroscopy to study enzyme reaction mechanisms. Current projects include the enzymes enoyl-CoA hydratase, medium chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase and the enoyl-ACP reductases from M. tuberculosis and E. coli. I am particularly interested in individuals with experience in the use of vibrational spectroscopy to study biological systems and/or in mechanistic enzymology. A position is available for a recent Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics to conduct studies of molecular dissociation and other chemical reactions induced by core electron excitation. Coincidence techniques involving fluorescence, electron and mass spectroscopy are being used with a molecular beam source. Studies of reactions on surfaces and in solids relevant to radiation damage and nanofabrication also are being conducted using PSD and FTIR. Experience with CAMAC based data acquisition is desirable.
