Celebrating 50 Years of Chemistry at Stony Brook

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As the University concludes the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Chemistry Department is planning to celebrate its own 50th in 2008. The event is called “Celebrating 50 Years of Chemistry at Stony Brook”, which will take place just before the Wolfstock 2008 weekend – a Homecoming Tradition for Stony Brook alumni. The event will take place on October 17, 2008 and include a full-day of symposium with cutting edge research posters by students and short lectures by alumni, friends and faculty, as well as a wine-tasting dinner.

All of us know many stories of this department; a department which is filled with traditions, colorful characters and some of the most important technological innovations. We look forward to sharing our favorite stories with each other. We truly hope this special 50 years of Chemistry event will bring you back to Stony Brook soon to discover more of what makes this Department so great.
